Works in clay include  hand built and thrown projects, some functional, some decorative. The excitement about hand built pieces is that they are never the same even in sets, usually flawed somewhere, reminding everyone that they were built with human hands and not machinery. The Raku pieces look functional, but in fact are not because they do not hold water and are not food safe. Each piece is completely unique as the firing is so unpredictable. Frequently, they have cracks and imperfections which are considered part of their charm.
